Sim Trava’s new venture
Tracy and I are delighted to announce that we have joined forces with Warrens Bakery to bring another franchise brand to our company with the first store aiming to be opening in November this year.
You may be wondering why at this time we would be starting another new franchise business while we are still expanding our Costa stores so quickly and have two Pita Pit stores in Manchester. The reason is that the Warrens Brand, the business model and their excellent products will provide us with a great platform to continue to grow our company allowing us to offer even more opportunities for everyone who is part of our team – but more importantly once you taste the Cornish pasties you will understand.
This new and exciting opportunity uses our established skill base and creates new prospects for our colleagues. The Warrens business model is much more flexible than the Costa model, we can operate on a smaller foot print on high streets, in travel hubs such as train stations and airports and as we have a secured territory of Central and Southern Greater Manchester we are free to open in prime locations without competition from our own brand. Financially the set up costs are much lower than the Costa or Pita Pit models which will help us grow quickly. We all know it is a challenging time on the High Street at the moment for all brands so we needed to look at other options in a slightly different market
to continue our growth strategy for the company. The success of the Warrens brand will help support our existing stores and deliver a more sustainable business model for us all going forward.
To give you some background to this decision Warrens Bakery has a rich history in baking that dates back to 1860 where they began their story as the oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world based in St Just, Cornwall. Keeping traditions alive this full spectrum craft bakery still use traditional recipes and hand crafting methods to this day and offers a range that spans from traditional Cornish pasties, over 20 artisan breads, handmade sandwiches made on their own artisan breads, cream buns and cakes of all descriptions and the biggest scones you are ever likely to see!
Warrens attribute their success not only to the provenance of their ingredients but also to their dedicated team, their ethos and values are very similar to those held by Sim Trava and therefore a very natural fit. All of their baked goods are crafted with an enormous amount of care and attention to detail and using the finest ingredients. Many of their products are also produced to traditional recipes including their Cornish pasty, they are after all the oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world.
Warrens decided to offer franchise options mid-2016 and is set to become the fastest growing franchise brand in the UK by 2020. We are opening our first Warrens Bakery store in Altrincham in November and we have plans to open 20 stores in the next 5 years around Central and South Manchester.
I hope that you will join both Tracy and myself in welcoming this new brand into the Sim Trava family and we can all look forward to hand-crafted pasties, sandwiches and the biggest scones you are ever likely to see at our future meetings in Central Office.
