Sim Trava Academy

When you take up a role at Sim Trava we’ll work with you to determine, pursue and achieve your goals. The Sim Trava Academy team delivers in-house bespoke courses for all colleagues within the business, and supports the fantastic training delivered on a daily basis within every Sim Trava store.

The Academy was officially set up in 2015, supported by a home-grown team of experienced store managers that were involved within the programme.  Our Academy has been invested in heavily over the past 12 months, and we’ve invested in extra space in our central office to house it.  Those team members running our Academy now form a team of experts who can deliver the Sim Trava way to newer colleagues in the business.

Every colleague within Sim Trava is offered a career passport to support their journey from team member to store manager. The Academy supports this path by delivering bespoke, in-house programmes for colleagues.

Over the last 12 months, the Academy has delivered 15 apprenticeships in customer Service, team leading and assessor qualifications. This adds to the 75 successfully completed apprenticeships in customer service, team leading, management, business and administration, and accountancy, we’ve completed in the last seven years.

NVQ Recognised Courses

We offer two types of apprenticeship at Sim Trava: customer service and team leading. However, our qualifications are bespoke to our business and we call them diplomas.

  • Customer Service Diploma (NVQ Apprenticeship programme)

    This 12-month diploma is available for colleagues at Barista level who have recently joined Sim Trava and are keen to take their first step on their career ladder. The course is structured around our seven company values to allow students to understand how their role fits, and provides first class knowledge in customer service and coffee skills.

  • Team Leading Diploma (NVQ Apprenticeship programme)

    This 12-month qualification supports colleagues who wants to progress from experienced team member to assistant manager. The course has been internally built and consists of four away days at the Academy, monthly visits to store, exams and a presentation / celebration event at the end of the course.

Sim Trava Accredited Courses

  • Welcome Days

    Available to everyone who joins the Sim Trava family. Through the day there are sessions on customer service, coffee skills, health and safety, company values and history.

  • Refresher Days

    Available to colleagues who want a refresher in their coffee making skills.

  • Barista Maestro Accreditation

    This two-day course is delivered at our head office and will give the Barista the knowledge and skills to become experts in making coffee.

  • Management

    A three-day course that is designed to support a colleague’s journey from assistant manager to store manager. This course consists of a series of away days at the Academy, work to undertake whilst in store, with a presentation at the end of the course.
